The entrance lagoon at Puerto Princesa Underground River connects the visitor boarding area with the cave near Sabang, Palawan. Park-operated paddle boats carry visitors into passages inhabited by bats and swiftlets. The river flows through limestone and emerges directly towards the sea, allowing tides to affect its lower section. The national park protects the river’s catchment together with forest and coastal habitats.
