Home / palawan double outriggers 7
In Palawan, as well as across the Philippines, the traditional sailboats are called 'paraw' or 'parau.' These are double-outrigger sailboats, similar to a 'banca' (a traditional Filipino boat) but fitted with sails. The paraw combines features from both outrigger canoes and sailboats. The outriggers provide stability, while the sail allows the boat to harness wind power, making the paraw an efficient sailing vessel.
These boats are a common sight in the coastal areas and are used for various purposes, including fishing, transportation, and even for tourism—where visitors can enjoy sailing experiences around the islands.
